A Great Location
The Cottage is located in the small, picturesque village of Brighthampton near Witney, Oxfordshire. Surrounded by fields and countryside, but within easy access of Oxford, the Cotswolds and many of the attractions Oxfordshire has to offer.
We’re a short drive from Witney, Oxford and Burford, and are ideally located for travellers seeking Cotswold bed & breakfast accommodation in order to visit local attractions and the many events which take place nearby every year.
About The Cottage
Dating from the early 1700’s, The Cottage is a pretty detached Cotswold stone cottage offering relaxing and comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation with lots of Cotswold character.
The landscaped gardens are a particular feature, having been carefully planted, well tended and offering unspoilt views across adjoining fields.
One very famous occupier of The Cottage, when first venturing over from France, is the celebrated Chef and Restauranter, Raymond Blanc, who began his illustrious career in a nearby riverside inn.
The Guest Lounge
The front drawing room is for the exclusive use of our guests at all times. It is intended to be a place of relaxation, so we deliberately do not have a television in this room. There is a wood burning fireplace for those chillier days – an ideal snug to put your feet up and enjoy a good book.
A Local Breakfast
The breakfast room is located in the pretty beamed sunny dining room of The Cottage with views looking onto the garden.
Our breakfasts are prepared with local produce where possible, including our own organic free range eggs and a variety of homemade preserves. Timings for breakfasts are flexible so that you can begin your day at your leisure.

Whilst we don’t serve lunchtime or evening meals at The Cottage, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to local pubs and restaurants. You can choose from pub meals to fine dining, or anything in between.
Witney, Burford and Oxford are all close enough for an evening meal and all offer a selection of restaurants. Oxford in particular offers a vast array of choice including some very cosmopolitan restaurants. Within walking distance of The Cottage, the Black Horse offers good, honest pub grub, whilst also within easy reach are a handful of other pubs including an award-winning community owned pub and three restaurants offering fine dining options.
We particularly recommend:
- The Red Lion, Northmoor (award-winning community owned pub)
- The Black Horse, Standlake (pub food within walking distance)
- The Rose Revived, Newbridge (Greene King riverside pub)
- The Maybush, Newbridge (fine dining at an independent riverside pub)
- The Blue Boar, Longworth (village inn offering great food)
- The White Hart, Fyfield (fine dining)
- The Plough, Clanfield (fine dining)
Our guest accommodation offers Cotswold charm and character, combined with the luxury you would expect from four-star bed and breakfast accommodation. The Cottage has three bedrooms which are all available exclusively for grown up guests. Relax in our guest lounge and enjoy one of our award-winning breakfasts each morning before setting off to explore the local area.
